EFI Global is looking for a motivated Mechanical Engineer (EIT) to join our team in the greater Plano, TX area! In this role, you will dive into hands‑on component testing—think plumbing systems, appliances, and HVAC units—while assisting engineers and fire investigators out in the field, designing and building test mockups, and managing evidence in our warehouse. You'll complete detailed engineering evaluations, document evidence recovery, and deliver clear, professional reports for our clients. Candidate must reside in greater Plano, TX area. This is a hybrid/remote role requires working in a variety of environments.

PRIMARY PURPOSE To be responsible for profitably, ethically, and scientifically investigating events, systems, devices and/or failures and to provide expert opinions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for managing evidence in warehouse

Document evidence recovery

Participate in mechanical component testing

Design and build test mockups

Assist with surveys of losses and loss scenes at residential and commercial buildings

Assist in investigations to determine and document the scope of damage

Participate in investigations to assess damages due to failures and determine the origin of failure for insurers and litigation support

Determine and document the failure analysis and causation of failures

Support project documentation outlining the cause and origin of losses and damages

Document and maintain billable hours on a time and expense basis for failure analysis and forensic engineering projects for clients

Adhere to quality assurance measures and accreditation standards as mandated by all applicable rules, policies, protocols and procedures

Collaborate with the national team of forensic experts to leverage experiences and assist on projects

Perform other duties as assigned

Education & Licensing Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university preferred.

Experience Six (6) years of experience or equivalent combination of experience and education required. Experience with engineering reporting preferred.

Physical: Must be able to stand and/or walk for long periods of time; Must be able to kneel, squat or bend; Must be able to work outdoors in hot and/or cold weather conditions; Have the ability to climb, crawl, stoop, kneel, reach/working overhead; Be able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds; Be able to push/pull up to 100 pounds; Be able to drive up to 4 hours per day; Auditory/Visual: Hearing, vision and talking.
