HEAVY EQUIPMENT MECHANIC

Responsibilities

Help maintain and repair construction equipment, trucks, mixer trucks, including preventative maintenance work, hydraulic repair, brake work, electrical repairs and welding.

May perform service repairs in the field.

May have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of units from small fleet vehicles, class 8 trucks/trailers, mixer trucks, construction equipment and crushing equipment.

Complete all required paperwork.

Must have own journeyman hand tools; Knife River provides large tools and has a replacement policy.

Assure all safety policies and procedures are followed to prevent unsafe actions, processes and behaviors.

Other duties as assigned.

Hours: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM, Monday to Friday.

Wage Range: $26.91 – $47.11 per hour. Wage differential ($3) included for swing shift.

Minimum Qualifications

Previous mechanical experience on construction equipment, class 8 trucks and mixer trucks.

Strong troubleshooting skills.

Welding and fabrication experience desirable.

Clean driving record.

Ability to pass a pre‑employment criminal background check, physical/functional and drug screen.

Display a professional and courteous attitude toward all team members.
