Position Information General Description:

This position is responsible for the recruitment, pre‑admission advisement, prospective student communication, admission processing, matriculation, and retention of new and returning students while also providing services and outreach programs to recruit and retain targeted student populations. May help with international admissions as needed.

Coordinator of Recruitment

Required Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Sciences, Human Relations, Communication or related field.

Minimum Experience:

Minimum (1) year work experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge of higher education recruitment processes.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

Verbal communication skills.

Written communication skills.

Strong interpersonal skills.

Strong public speaking skills.

Ability to communicate diplomatically, clearly, and effectively.

Ability to respectfully work with diverse populations.

Physical Demands:

Work is sedentary; may require occasional exertion up to 10 pounds.

Manual dexterity: picking, pinching, typing, or other finger‑based tasks.

Talking: express or exchange ideas by means of spoken word.

Hearing: perceive sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction.

Repetitive motions of wrists, hands, and fingers.

Visual acuity: close visual acuity for data analysis, transcribing, reading, inspections, etc.

Office environment; some evening or weekend hours may be required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous work experience at a community college.

Bilingual.

Required Training:

Quarterly compliance training as assigned by institution.

Annual CSA training required for holders of this position.

Work Hours:

Monday – Friday 8 am – 5 pm or occasional scheduled shifts from 9 am – 6 pm. Some additional evening or weekend hours may be required.

Job Duties (Position Specific)

Recruit new and returning students by providing accurate and timely pre‑admission advisement to prospective students, parents, families and other members of the public.

Provide knowledgeable and professional representation of the college with students one‑on‑one advisement sessions and during on‑and‑off campus events.

Work directly with area high schools, technical centers, businesses, and other constituencies to develop relationships designed to recruit students.

Plan and implement college recruitment activities, programs, and campaigns.

Attend events and make presentations to communicate with prospective students and their parents in an effort to promote OCCC and its programs.

Advise prospective students by providing individualized assistance with educational goal identification, program selection, assessment of entry level skills, payment/financial aid planning, and paths to degree and/or certificate completion. Correspond with students offering advice, resources, or referral to other campus resources.

Through application of federal, state, college policies, and professional judgment determine admissions eligibility for applicants by evaluating required documents including transcripts, standardized test scores, and other academic records. Provide initial evaluation of transfer credit to determine admissions status and the presence of pre‑/co‑requisites.

Accurately process applications for admission, petitions, and other required documents to ensure that students receive accurate and timely notification of admissions decisions and other information prior to, during, and after the admissions process is complete.

Advise the Director of Recruitment & Admissions and/or Assistant Director of Recruitment & Admissions and Coordinator of Recruitment on significant matters and support other members of the Admissions team in their goals and operational purposes.

Participate in staff development programs and campus functions.

Job Duties (Safety / Policy & Procedures)

Contribute to a safe educational & working environment.

Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices for the purpose of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others.

Complete quarterly health and safety training pursuant to OCCC’s established safety and health procedures and practices.

Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation, shelter in place drills, and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur.

This position has been identified as having significant responsibility for student and campus activities; is designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA); and is required to report crimes they become aware of to the Reporting Structure at Oklahoma City Community.
