Salary:
$28.07 Minimum Starting Base Pay* + KPI Bonuses + Competitive Benefits
*Qualifications may warrant greater starting base pay within the full pay range. Individual base pay is determined by experience, job‑related skills, and relevant education or training.
Position Summary This position is responsible for the design of residential, commercial, industrial, overhead and underground electric distribution facilities in support of the Cooperative's strategic initiatives.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Ensure safety and reliability of Joint Use entities.
Accompany designers and meet with members, developers, contractors, consultants, and government entities regarding electric power supply procedures.
Research, acquire, record, prepare, and verify required overhead or URD easements.
Verify customer deed information and update as necessary.
Check right‑of‑way easements and obtain permits when required.
Obtain road‑crossing permits.
Notify warehouse of material/transformer requirements.
Assist designers with notifying the Meter Shop of current transformer and socket requirements.
Assist designers in creating designs and material lists for overhead and underground distribution facilities.
Draw new distribution facilities within the Global Information System.
Request vegetation clearing or trimming from the Vegetation Maintenance Department.
Assist planners with sending joint‑use letters.
Inspect overhead and URD line extensions.
Prepare cost estimates for new line extensions and relocations.
Learn to use survey measurements (prisms, theodolites, measuring equipment, chain saws, and assorted tools).
Coordinate with right‑of‑way, construction, department planners, and pole contacts.
Interpret, adhere to, and enforce company policies, safety, line extension, and the National Electric Safety Code.
Prepare small‑scale distribution designs under supervision.
Maintain assigned vehicles and tools; provide proper and routine maintenance.
Operate PEC vehicles for business purposes following applicable law and PEC policies.
Maintain valid Texas driver’s license and a clean driving record.
Maintain the security of confidential information.
Stay abreast of technological advances.
Demonstrate regular and prompt attendance.
Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of computer systems, including hardware, software, data entry, and processing.
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service.
Knowledge of mathematics.
Excellent time management.
Ability to prioritize and manage changing priorities.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Listening and understanding skills.
Ability to anticipate, identify, analyze, and resolve conflicts and problems.
Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience)
High School Diploma.
Valid Texas Driver’s License and motor vehicle report in compliance with PEC policy.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Standing, reaching, stooping, kneeling, and other movements required.
Exposure to rough terrain and inclement weather.
Training in the proper use of chainsaws and hand tools.
Extended periods of standing or sitting.
Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or moving up to 50 pounds.
Travel may be required.
Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including wet or humid conditions.
May work more than 40 hours per week.
Exempt employees receive a fixed bi‑weekly salary.
