Senior Construction Manager, Construction Job Description

TECfusions – Data Center Redevelopment Projects (Clarksville, VA; New Kensington, PA; Tucson, AZ) The Senior Construction Manager represents the Owner of the project planning and overseeing the management of the design, building and commissioning process of TECfusions data center redevelopment projects from start to finish. Initial assignments may be project-specific, with future opportunities to support additional TECfusions data center projects as development phases progress. Their duties include overseeing the production of the design and the design coordination which will be undertaken by the Architects / Engineers and the General Contractor. They will also oversee the building process within the agreed budget, submitting on a timely basis the necessary permits to construct and communicating the client’s goals for the project to the General Contractor. What you will be doing:
Function as main point-of-contact for owner and as the owners on-site representative Meets with, appoints, and manages contractors in relation to the scope of project. Develop Project Budgets with TECfusions Commercial Director, monitor costs against budgets, manages change and coordinates all work to achieve project budget and profit objectives. Provide cost information to the Commercial Director for reconciliation into the project profit and loss proforma as needed to inform development decisions for the TECfusions executive team. Core competencies for the role:
Strong, working understanding of Health and Safety, Sustainability, and quality systems. Effective and natural business-like interpersonal skills Analytical, Problem solving and conflict resolution bias. Ability to resolve complicated commercial and technical issues with the designer and the contractor. Strong electrical engineering background or equivalent hands‑on experience in mission‑critical electrical systems is required (utility power, MV/LV distribution, UPS, generators, switchgear, commissioning). Deep working knowledge of mission‑critical electrical systems including utility interconnections, substations, MV/LV distribution, UPS, generators, switchgear, and electrical commissioning, along with data centre cooling and white space systems and construction sequencing. Working Knowledge of design management processes Working Knowledge of change management processes IT literate with good verbal and written communication skills Core behaviors for the role:
Good communicator – Listening and discussing. Leader – leads by example, leads from ‘the front.’ Patience, Persistence and objectives and goal driven. Open and Collaborative Decisive when required. Sample responsibilities for this position include:
Collaborating with the various project development delivery teams, designers, and key stakeholders throughout project to resolve schedule, resourcing or financial issues or address revisions in prioritization. Managing vendors establishing clear Scope of Work and Interface documents, overseeing daily invoicing (payables and receivables) Lead project teams consisting of architects, design engineers, general and specialty contractors, property management, operating engineers, real estate brokers and environmental consultants. Provide weekly project activity updates to Team Lead for Project delivery Schedule, Procurement of key equipment, design deliverables, Budget, and Risk within Project Management web-based tools. Manage vendors (GC, A&E, Specialty vendors,) to ensure full compliance with all project policies and procedures, including the Master Service Agreement between TECfusions and their customer. Willingness to Travel to support engagement and management with project stakeholders, as required by assigned project location. Leading and Attending meetings with various engineering disciplines, clients, and regulatory agencies. Providing mentorship and guidelines to team members through all stages of multiple dimensional projects, and during various stages of development Completing project documentation as required Set the vision for the project and follow through in accomplishing the vision. Be able to effectively negotiate, communicate, listen and mentor/coach. Keep current with technologies that directly impact the group. Maintain technical oversight of all projects within the group and be able to help by offering technical assistance. Coordinate various functional areas such as design, analysis, test, quality, and system safety. Be active and collaborative in the Construction and Engineering leadership teams. Lead liaison in discharge of non-design Planning Conditions and planning gain requirements nature, archaeological and controlling matrix of discharge of Planning Conditions, way leaves, crane over-sailing rights, other third-party rights etc. TECfusions is an Equal Opportunity Employer
