SolidWorks Mechanical Designer (Contract)
Akkodis is seeking an experienced SolidWorks Mechanical Designer to work on a contract with a client in Buffalo Grove, IL. The role involves independently handling 3D modeling, detailed drafting, and dimensioning tasks.
Rate Range:
$30–$50 per hour (negotiable based on experience, education, and location).
Responsibilities
Create and modify 3D solid models and detailed 2D drawings using SolidWorks, ensuring accurate dimensioning and tolerancing.
Support engineering activities including drafting, design verification, and validation throughout the product development lifecycle.
Collaborate on mini projects related to quality, sourcing, and manufacturing support, ensuring adherence to project schedules and budgets.
Apply critical thinking and problem‑solving skills to resolve design challenges and improve existing processes.
Communicate technical information effectively in written and oral form to internal teams and external stakeholders.
Assist in tender development, conceptual design, and product launch activities, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or engineering technology (ABET‑accredited preferred).
Minimum 3–5 years of hands‑on experience with SolidWorks and related drafting/design work.
Strong proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and 2D drafting; able to work independently and meet deadlines.
Excellent problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills, with the ability to support cross‑functional engineering activities (quality, sourcing, manufacturing).
Pay Details $30.00 to $50.00 per hour.
