The Florida Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco licenses the manufacture, distribution, sale, and service of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products, collects and audits taxes, and enforces related laws. The division’s three bureaus – Licensing, Auditing, and Enforcement – comprise a team of approximately 325 personnel carrying out regulatory duties statewide. Work You Will Do

As an inspector for the Division’s Bureau of Enforcement, you will: Educate licensees on minor compliance issues and file administrative cases against serious violations. Provide intelligence to sworn personnel by reporting activities suspected of criminal nature. Utilize assigned vehicle, uniforms, and equipment for inspections. Your Specific Responsibilities

Investigate violations of chapters 210, 561‑565, and 567‑569 of Florida Statutes. Conduct frequent observations and inspections of licensed business locations. Assess compliance with tobacco and alcohol laws and report findings to superiors. Assist the Bureau of Licensing with application site inspections. Prepare comprehensive written reports and administrative cases. Refer alleged criminal violations to sworn personnel for further investigation. Examine license records for compliance with applicable rules and laws. Assist in preparation for prosecution and other legal proceedings, including evidence collection and testimony. Identify tobacco tax non‑payment through inspection of cigarette tax stamps and invoices. Perform related administrative functions and assist the public, agency members, and investigators. Attend training sessions on relevant laws, counterfeit stamp detection, report writing, and courtroom procedures. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Valid State of Florida driver’s license (or obtain by hire date) Safe driving history Ability to work independently and complete daily inspections Successful completion of internal training program Pass law enforcement level II background screening Lift up to 50 pounds daily Stand and kneel for extended periods daily Reside within 70 miles of Gainesville District Office at time of hire Agree to participate in the Field Work Program Preferred Qualifications

Experience operating a portable electronic tablet/computer Experience in regulatory compliance, inspections, or quality assurance Position Notes
