Assistant Golf Professional
General Purpose:
Assists in administering all daily operations, including facilitating sales, assisting with merchandise, operating the POS system, managing handicap and tee‑sheet applications, and acting as a ranger, starter, guest relations, outside service, or golf shop shift. The Assistant Golf Professional position is essential to ensuring that day‑to‑day golf operations run smoothly and that guests receive exceptional customer service. Responsibilities include serving guests courteously and professionally, prioritizing tasks, handling multiple assignments, and working independently or as part of a team. The role reports to the Head Golf Professional and offers growth opportunities across the club.
Pay rate range: $20.00 to $24.00 per hour, depending on experience.
Essential Duties
Assist in administering all point‑of‑sale application revisions and needs related to green fee sales, merchandise sales, and member/guest billing.
Coordinate with Accounting to implement policy and procedure revisions.
Reconcile daily tee sheets, perform check‑in, and receive payments; resolve discrepancies such as duplicate charges and over/under payments; track force posts and no‑show charges.
Promote all club golf activities.
Assist in creating lesson plans and providing individual and group instruction.
Maintain a clean, orderly, and well‑stocked golf shop.
Assist the retail buyer with procurement and merchandising.
Prepare for all golf outings by coordinating scorecards, cart labels, rules sheets, score sheets, format sheets, favors, pairing sheets, and hole assignments.
Follow established opening and closing procedures.
Assist with the care and maintenance of the golf facilities’ physical assets.
Serve as a role model for all employees by demonstrating expected behavior and work ethic.
Assist with associate training.
Interpret and enforce club policies, rules, and regulations.
Incorporate safe work practices into job performance.
Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
Perform other duties as required.
Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences
Ability to read and speak English is required to communicate with guests and coworkers.
A self‑starter with a results‑oriented work style and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Experience with computerized POS and tee‑time systems.
Minimum Requirements / Education
Associate’s degree (AA) or two plus years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
At least 2 years of experience in golf course operations or a related industry.
Current PGA membership or enrollment in the PGAPGM program.
Open availability to work weekends, holidays, and occasional extended hours.
Certificates / Licenses
Maintain membership with PGA and CMAA and other professional associations; attend workshops and meetings to stay current.
Physical Demands
Regularly stand, walk, and sit. Occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, or crouch. Frequently use hands; reach with hands and arms. Frequently talk or hear. Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
Environment / Noise
Occasionally work in wet or humid conditions (non‑weather). Frequently work outdoors. Noise level is moderate.
