Position Purpose The Customs Entry Writer opportunity is designed for a customs professional capable of facilitating an impact role with the PGL Customs Brokerage Team. The Customs Entry Writer will facilitate the preparation and submission of the documentation necessary for the clearance of goods through customs for PGL’s most valued and dynamic customers.
Tasks
Review import and export documents including invoices and packing lists to ensure accuracy.
Prepare and submit customs entries.
Ensure that all shipments comply with customs laws and regulations.
Classify goods according to HS codes.
Calculate estimated customs duties and taxes based on value and classification.
Coordinate communication to prevent or resolve customs clearance issues.
Create accurate and timely records of all customs entries and related documentation.
Work Activities
Observing, receiving, and obtaining information from all sources.
Using computers to program, write software, enter data, or process information.
Compiling, coding, categorizing, calculating, tabulating, auditing, or verifying data.
Using judgment to determine compliance with laws and regulations.
Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates.
Communicating with external parties representing the organization.
Keeping up-to-date technically and applying new knowledge.
Entering, transcribing, recording, storing, or maintaining information.Analyzing information and evaluating results to solve problems.
Qualifications Education and Experience:
1-3 years of progressive experience facilitating customs clearance and compliance.
Industry related degree and/or certification.
Knowledge
Transportation: knowledge of moving goods by air, rail, sea, or road.
