DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with an emphasis on providing fast and friendly customer service.
Assists customers by making product suggestions.
Engages in suggestive selling and other sales techniques via telephone, in‑store intercom announcements, and one‑on‑one customer interaction.
Answers and responds to incoming calls appropriately, receives and resolves customer complaints, and reports to the Store Director as needed.
Responsible for total store operations in the absence of the Store Director (See Store Director job description).
Assists with planning daily operations, monitoring the production process following company procedures, and ensuring profitability.
Builds grocery displays, rotates and discards outdated or spoiled product, and ensures cleanliness of the work area and department.
Implements effective promotional and seasonal displays and assists with coordinating grocery sales promotions.
Ensures that merchandise is correctly priced and displayed, and that shelves are clean and properly maintained.
Follows and maintains department standards and requirements.
Monitors employee productivity.
Schedules employees to ensure adequate coverage and service levels.
Has specific knowledge of duties performed by all department employees, including but not limited to opening/closing duties, dairy, and frozen.
Schedules, supervises, trains, and assigns duties to department employees.
Trains employees in store policies, sales, and record‑keeping procedures.
Has working knowledge of company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.
Ensures proper code dating for all products within the department and enforces these standards.
Prepares sales and inventory reports; conducts physical inventory every six months.
Controls inventory to ensure adequate product quantity, quality, and freshness, maintains inventory levels according to division directives, and stocks and rotates products.
Assists with ordering grocery products, maintains inventory levels according to division directives, supervises the processing of all reclamation, and keeps back‑room and all grocery department areas orderly and in stock.
Controls shrink and cost.
Implements correct product preparation techniques and operates related equipment such as pallet jack, hand truck, scissors, knives, safety cutters, and Sterilox machine.
