Avsar Construction is seeking an experienced
Interior Designer
to support the planning, design, and delivery of interior environments for educational and institutional projects. This role focuses on space planning, furniture and equipment selection, interior finishes, and coordination with project teams to deliver functional, safe, and aesthetically engaging spaces—on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to evaluate furniture, fixtures, and equipment needs and develop efficient, cost-effective design solutions.
Develop space plans, interior architectural layouts, and interior finish concepts in accordance with project standards and industry best practices.
Select and specify furniture, fixtures, equipment, and interior finishes appropriate for educational and institutional environments.
Contribute to the development of interior design standards and specifications, including finish schedules and electrical requirements.
Prepare detailed furniture and equipment cost estimates and support design teams during budgeting and procurement phases.
Review construction documents and conduct site visits to ensure design intent is met and all interiors comply with applicable building codes, life safety, accessibility, sustainability, and public health requirements.
Plan and lead design meetings and site reviews to assess project progress and resolve design issues.
Advise project teams on furniture and equipment procurement, layouts, and finish selections.
Coordinate and supervise assigned projects, working with logistics and procurement teams to ensure timely delivery and installation of furniture and equipment.
Develop, schedule, and manage furniture and equipment orders and specifications for procurement contracts.
Collaborate with manufacturers and vendors on custom products and value-driven solutions.
Prepare detailed reports, records, drawings, and visual presentations for review and approval.
Maintain and update approved furniture, equipment, manufacturer, and vendor lists.
Assist with furniture and equipment replacement initiatives as needed.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Experience
Minimum 8 years
of full-time professional experience in interior design, including space planning, interior finishes, furniture, and equipment coordination.
Experience working on educational, institutional, or public-sector projects is preferred.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.
OR
Completion of at least 40 semester units in interior design (or equivalent), plus 2 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of the degree.
Knowledge & Skills
Strong understanding of interior design principles, space planning, and color theory.
Experience specifying furniture and equipment, preferably for educational or institutional facilities.
Ability to prepare timelines, budgets, and cost estimates.
Knowledge of building codes, ADA, fire and life safety requirements related to interiors.
Proficiency with
AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam , and
Microsoft Office
(Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and specifications.
Strong project management and organizational skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including client and stakeholder presentations.
Ability to collaborate effectively with project teams, facilities personnel, and administrators.
Willingness to commute to job sites as required.
