Role description Arcadis is seeking a Senior Designer to join our Workplace Practice Group in Houston. The successful candidate will be a client leader with guiding industry knowledge, recognized specialization in workplace projects, and recognized ability to impact revenue and growth. We look for a creative, organized, and self‑motivated individual who can fully interpret, coordinate, and execute projects and processes at any scale. Strong oral and written communication, presentation, and documentation skills are required. The role supports oil and gas workplace projects in Houston.
The ideal candidate will be a team leader and mentor at all levels, embodying Arcadis’s values and mission, taking a lead role in business development, and cultivating new relationships. They will be highly collaborative, an excellent team player, and eager to grow within the role. Multitasking, follow‑through, and deadline adherence are crucial, along with strong time‑management, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
Role accountabilities
Managing multiple projects simultaneously while leading a team to complete each task and collaborating with other professionals to ensure design and documentation meet client expectations.
Proactively selecting appropriate methods and standards from proposal stage through all project phases.
Ensuring quality control that meets or exceeds the firm’s standards for design intent, technical delivery, performance‑driven design, and project management.
Coordinating project design, construction, and management with both internal and external stakeholders while ensuring quality control and execution.
Resolving design and technical issues within scope and escalating as needed to meet objectives.
Reviewing and processing submittals, shop drawings, substitution requests, and addressing RFIs.
Writing change documents and reviewing contractor pricing.
Preparing owner and consultant contracts with the assistance of the leadership team.
Preparing and presenting to clients and stakeholders.
Managing and mentoring junior staff.
Assisting in preparation of proposals.
Participating in business development to support growth of the Houston workplace team.
Qualifications & Experience
Professional Degree in Interior Design or a related field.
8‑10+ years of experience with a strong background in workplace design.
Knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Proficiency in REVIT (required).
Exceptional attention to detail and proven ability to lead and inspire teams in a fast‑paced environment.
Strong leadership, organizational, written/verbal communication, and relationship‑management skills.
NCIDQ certification (required).
LEED and/or WELL accreditation (required).
Must be located in the Houston area to travel to active project sites.

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. Salary range for this position is $74,000 – $120,000, varying by experience, education, budget, and location.
