Job Duties

Arrange appointments with customers, including pre‑arranged appointments or cold calls.

Consistently work toward acquiring new business by generating leads, following up on them, and networking through current customers.

Engage customers by adapting to their buying style, incorporating proven sales techniques and a consultative approach to effectively demonstrate.

Collaborate with other internal staff members as needed, working closely with all company divisions to develop cross‑selling strategies and ensure a great customer experience.

Maintain regular communication with the Service and Rental Departments to resolve and troubleshoot customer issues as quickly as possible.

Initiate and process sales order in SAGE for part purchases.

Meet customer expectations for continued support and follow up after sales are final to include delivery of parts, signing of delivery report and rental contract, truck orientation, and service schedules.

Identify equipment sale opportunities with customer base and log information into Salesforce CRM. Meet with Sales Manager to review Sales Representative Scorecard each month.

Attend team meetings to review department goals and strategies as required.

Work with Sales Manager to develop annual sales goals and work toward meeting them.

Consistently monitor territory by making sales calls daily.

Use Salesforce CRM to track daily customer interactions.

Maintain professionalism on the job at all times.

Be reliable and punctual in reporting for work as scheduled.

Perform other duties of a similar nature as required.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred.

Two or more years of outside sales experience.

Valid driver’s license and driving record acceptable to insurance company.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Ability to work independently and as a team.

Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey information to internal and external customers in a clear and concise manner.

Ability to develop relationships with customers.

Minimal travel outside of territory (trade shows, training).

Smart dress and a professional appearance.

Experience selling heavy equipment preferred but not required.

His goal was to build up a forklift dealership that makes a big difference in the customer’s experience. Gerald led Towlift to regional growth by staying focused on that goal for many years. Following Caterpillar’s purchase of Towmotor, Gerald moved the operation to a full‑service facility, steadily growing it into one of the largest material‑handling dealerships in the eastern half of the United States. The success of Gerald’s business won many awards, such as Caterpillar Lift Truck Dealer of the Year and Inside Business Magazine’s list of the top 90 companies in the Cleveland area. Gerald was known for his charm, brilliant business sense, and inquisitiveness. He coined the phrase, “It’s the dealer that makes the difference,” Towlift’s company slogan, which will live on in his memory.

Compensation Annual salary: $70,000‑80,000
