Position Summary The Direct Support Professional provides individuals with developmental disabilities skill development through a combination of community and classroom learning experiences.

Position available at our program located on Metropolitan Avenue in Middle Village, NY.

Salary: Minimum $19.00/hr, Maximum $19.00/hr. Overtime eligible.

Responsibilities

Assist each consumer in skill development in areas such as independent living, adaptive behaviors, socialization, recreation, and activities of daily living.

Supervise consumers in the community, using various experiences to reinforce skills taught in group sessions while ensuring their safety.

Lead group sessions with consumers, facilitating discussions to provide learning skills to be used in their community.

Provide annual and semi‑annual progress reports regarding valued outcomes.

Assess the needs of lower‑functioning and/or non‑verbal consumers through observations and evaluations; develop and address their valued outcomes.

Provide input and ensure compliance with the valued outcomes in the ISP and Day Habilitation Plan.

Provide weekly documentation of outcomes being worked toward with each individual in accordance with his/her Day Habilitation Plan.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.

At least one year of experience providing direct care services to adults with developmental disability.

AMAP certified, SCIP‑R trained, CPR & First Aid trained.
