Pay Information Base pay range: $23.50/hr - $28.00/hr

The Position Primarily responsibility for receiving and accessioning specimens, handling specimen documentation, and data entry of requisitions. Also responsible for keeping the lab clean and orderly. Specimen Processor I is knowledgeable in sample integrity issues and is a resource to others in the lab. Maintains flexibility regarding work schedules including daily assignments, holiday schedules, and days of the week as determined by business needs. Two shifts available: Tuesday‑Saturday 6:30 am–3:00 pm and Monday‑Friday 7:00 am–3:30 pm.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Accessioning clinical specimens upon receipt and entering data into the LIS system.

Specimen verification, labeling, tracking, and all related clerical functions.

Identify specimen processing problems that may affect reporting of test results and notify the supervisor immediately.

Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory’s performance specifications.

Follow laboratory policies and procedures.

Understand compliance regulations related to test ordering.

Comply with company policies, procedures, safety requirements and regulations.

Contribute to laboratory safety by following procedures and making recommendations for improvement.

Engage in training and competency assessments.

Attend and participate in department meetings.

Participate in activities associated with regulatory compliance and inspections.

Assist in continuous improvement activities/projects.

Assist in research and validation activities.

Perform weekly, monthly, and other periodic room and equipment maintenance procedures per SOP.

Track and stock laboratory supplies.

General cleanup tasks (e.g., disassemble and dispose of shipping boxes, disinfect benches and surfaces, store supplies).

Work cooperatively in a team environment and support senior laboratory and management staff.

Work cross‑functionally with Customer Care regarding specimen issues and accessioning requests.

Complete other related administrative duties (printing, copying, filing, faxing, quality control of spreadsheets).

Education & Experience

0‑2 years of accessioning experience and/or in a lab setting.

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Good verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to navigate various laboratory information systems (LIS) and proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint).

Good judgment and problem‑solving skills.

Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills.

Ability to work independently.

Physical Requirements

Repetitive movement of hands, arms and legs.

Repetitive movement of fingers (typing and/or writing).

Sitting with occasional walking, standing, stooping and moving around.

Talking and hearing.

Occasionally required to lift up to 25 pounds.

Benefits & Compensation Base pay is one part of the total package. The final salary offered depends on factors such as years of experience, skill set, location, education, etc. This role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses/incentives and restricted stock units.
