Accounting Clerk - Entry Level

The Accounting Clerk plays a crucial role in managing and monitoring customer accounts to ensure timely payment of invoices. This role involves identifying past due invoices, communicating with customers, and deciding when to hold or release orders based on account status. The specialist will collaborate with sales representatives and account support coworkers to resolve invoice disputes. Responsibilities: Identify and monitor accounts for past due invoices and communicate issues to customers. Follow up with accounts on an ongoing basis as needed. Decide when certain accounts or orders need to be held if accounts become severely past due or unresponsive to inquiries. Release orders for accounts that may exceed their current credit limit. Collaborate with sales representatives and account support coworkers to resolve invoice disputes. Essential Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Excellent customer service skills. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field. 6 months to 1 year of experience in a professional or corporate setting. Quick learner with a positive attitude. Strong communication skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications: Detail-oriented. Self-starter with resilience when dealing with the sales team to release orders. Work Environment: The Accounts Receivable team consists of 32 people, including 8 in cash application and 24 collectors and credit managers. There is also an initiative to build a chargebacks team. The working hours are from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM with a 30-minute unpaid break/lunch. Initially, the position requires working onsite for 5 days a week. After 2-3 months, there may be an opportunity to work remotely 1 designated day per week, with potential to increase to 2-3 days remote. The dress code is business casual. Job Type & Location: This is a Contract position based out of Nashville, TN. Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $21.00/hr.
