Responsibilities
- The RSD establishes and inspects clear and rigorous business fundamentals, behaviours, and metrics, setting high performance standards and meeting or exceeding sales goals across the business.
- The RSD creates immediate impact by hiring, leading, coaching and motivating a high‑performance sales team.
- RSDs adapt quickly to launch preparations and support corporate and field‑based colleagues to navigate a dynamic market and exceed expected results in a complex specialty environment.
- Coaches ECSs in line with Ascendis Pharma’s sales model to drive sustained improvement in core sales competencies, including clinical, product, business acumen and reimbursement skillsets; routinely participates in sales field rides, customer meetings, target planning, territory alignment, and employee development.
- Contributes to the development of the national sales plan aligned to organizational goals, leveraging analysis of economic, industry, marketing and sales data.
- Ensures timely and accurate completion of all territory and regional level administrative tasks, including expense reporting, program funding requests and management communications.
Requirements
- BA/BS degree required.
- Minimum 12 years life‑sciences sales and commercial experience.
- Minimum 3 years of direct people leadership experience in rare disease/specialty biopharma preferred.
- Broad commercial breadth of work experience including Sales, Marketing, Training, Market Access, etc., preferred.
- Entrepreneurial attitude and/or experience in a start‑up environment.
- Experience with product launch and selling into the endocrinology/rare disease marketplace.
- Strong understanding and experience in pull‑through of regional health systems and teaching institutions.
- Demonstrated top 20% performance track record.
- Ability to develop and execute innovative sales strategies.
- Expertise in navigating complex accounts and securing sales through strong relationships.
- Collaborative leader and organisationally savvy team player with a history of leading high‑performance teams in a direct‑line and matrix management setting.
- Experience with products distributed via specialty pharmacies and supported by patient services/hubs.
- Polished executive presence and exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity, balancing process with agility, and making timely decisions.
- Autonomous self‑starter thriving in a fast‑paced, dynamic culture.
- Commitment to continuous learning and accountability.
- Knowledge of applicable federal/state compliance guidelines.
- Proficient in Word, PowerPoint, Excel and CRM tools.
- Ability to travel within the region, including overnight and occasional weekend travel (80% travel required).
- Valid driver’s licence and good driving record.
- Compliance with vendor credentialing requirements.
The annual base salary for this position ranges from $225,000 to $230,000.
