Clean Energy:
Capital Dynamics’ global Clean Energy platform makes direct equity investments in carbon-reducing renewable energy power generation from late-stage development to commercial operations. The Clean Energy platform’s dedicated asset management affiliate, Netro Energy, provides highly specialized services to ensure optimal performance and value from projects.
Role Purpose:
Capital Dynamics is seeking to hire a highly capable Asset Manager to work within the Clean Energy Investment business in the Chicago office. You will hold primary responsibility for managing the operations of Capital Dynamics (“CD”) portfolio of clean energy investments in the US (solar PV, wind and BESS projects).
The Asset Manager is the primary professional contact with all key stakeholders in relation to the projects held by CD Clean Energy funds.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the oversight of all elements of the service delivery of third‑party asset managers.
- Acting as the main point of contact for third‑party asset managers and acting as the owner’s representative, including giving approvals within the authority levels delegated by Capital Dynamics, reviewing/approving regular project operating payments, etc.
- Leading the tendering, selection, contracting of asset management services to third‑party asset managers.
- Regularly reviewing the service of third‑party asset managers and proposing any changes needed.
- Ensuring Capital Dynamics and Clean Energy procedures, processes and controls are consistently applied in the asset management of US investments.
- Overseeing the technical and financial performance of the assets with the aim of optimizing their performance.
- Liaising with the asset managers, Capital Dynamics investment and portfolio management teams on various optimization opportunities, including renegotiation of project agreements, re‑financings, tax optimization, technical improvements, etc.
- Monitoring market and regulatory changes and analyzing their impact on the portfolio investments.
- Liaising with third‑party asset managers, external CD fund administrator and CD fund ops teams on the management of capital and income cash flows to and from the projects.
- Ensuring project entities and their Holdco’s are compliant with their LLCAs, financing agreements, regulation, fund documentation, etc.
- Support on optimizing fund holding structures; liaising with external legal and tax advisors in the liquidation of the project and holding companies post exits.
- Reviewing the reporting prepared by third‑party asset managers, including to the lenders of the projects.
- Providing inputs to valuation team and coordinating quarterly valuation process/reporting.
- Support to Capital Dynamics team on exit and new acquisition transactions, including preparation and management of data‑rooms, answering Q&A’s, explaining the performance of the assets, etc.
Education and Qualifications:
- Degree in an associated discipline, preferred degree disciplines include Engineering, Finance, Accounting, Renewable Energy, etc.
- Excellent working knowledge and understanding of clean energy / renewable energy infrastructure, related standard contracts, key performance metrics, etc.
- Good understanding of financial aspects of clean energy projects, including of financing structures.
- Excellent ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Must be fluent in English with superior writing skills.
