Hinge — The Dating App Designed to Be Deleted

In today's digital world, finding genuine relationships is tougher than ever. At Hinge, we’re on a mission to inspire intimate connection to create a less lonely world. We’re obsessed with understanding our users’ behaviors to help them find love, and our success is defined by one simple metric: setting up great dates. With tens of millions of users across the globe, we’ve become the most trusted way to find a relationship, for all.

About the Role

The Director, Brand Strategy drives how Hinge shows up in the world and stays true to what makes it different. This role defines the next generation of Hinge’s brand platforms, messaging frameworks, and creative direction, ensuring the brand evolves in step with culture and business growth.

You will turn cultural and consumer insight into clear brand direction and lead the team that brings it to life across brand platforms and campaigns. Working closely with partners across Brand, Product, Growth, Creative, and Comms, you will connect the dots between what we say, what we build, and how we show up in culture.

You will also lead and develop a team of strategists, helping them grow their craft and push the brand forward with curiosity, clarity, and conviction.

Responsibilities

  • Define the marketing roadmap with leaders across Brand Marketing, Product Marketing, Growth Marketing, Creative, Ops, and Comms.
  • Identify, scope, and build alignment around brand strategy initiatives that shape future planning.
  • Lead the development of new brand platforms that strengthen Hinge’s cultural positioning, and create frameworks for how they scale across new audience segments and channels.
  • Develop and coach a team of strategists, elevating their thinking and maintaining a consistently high strategic standard.
  • Oversee resourcing with Operations to balance in‑house and freelance talent across strategy projects.
  • Define how the brand narrative connects to product, growth, and social impact strategy to ensure coherence between what we say, build, and show in market.
  • Establish and maintain strategic frameworks (e.g., positioning, segmentation messaging, brand pillars) that guide marketing decisions and ensure brand consistency.
  • Partner with Cultural & Consumer Insights to shape learning programs that inform brand direction and future planning.
  • Collaborate with Creative leadership to ensure work reflects and reinforces Hinge’s brand positioning.
  • Partner with Comms on proactive, foundational storytelling that defines Hinge’s point of view in culture.
  • Lead synthesis of learnings across campaigns into clear direction for future brand work.
  • Guide research with CCI to deepen understanding of how consumers perceive Hinge’s brand and role in culture.
  • Lead strategic alignment with agency partners, ensuring strong continuity from strategy to creative development.

What We’re Looking For

  • 12+ years in brand, creative, or integrated marketing strategy, ideally with a mix of agency and in‑house experience leading consumer brands.
  • A strategic leader with a strong track record of shaping brand direction and translating insight into creative action.
  • Skilled at building frameworks and narratives that connect brand, product, and growth strategy.
  • An inspiring people manager who develops talent and uplifts team craft.
  • Deeply curious about culture and how people connect with brands emotionally and behaviorally.
  • A confident communicator who can align stakeholders around a clear vision.
