About The Organization
The Statewide Guardian ad Litem Office is a state‑funded child advocacy organization providing independent legal representation to abused, abandoned, and neglected children.
Responsibilities
Compose and type correspondence, reports, charts, and memoranda.
Maintain comprehensive office filing system.
Prepare travel arrangements, schedule meetings, prepare materials for supervisor.
Establish working relationships with Guardian ad Litem Office, state courts, vendors, judges, and public.
Exercise discretion with confidential and sensitive information.
Work independently under general supervision of the Supervising Attorney.
Education and Training Guidelines
High school diploma or equivalent and three years of administrative support experience, with at least one year in a Legal Secretary, Administrative Specialist II, or comparable role (preference for experience).
Alternatively, graduation from an accredited four‑year college, two‑year college, or vocational school may substitute for the recommended experience on a year‑for‑year basis.
(The Executive Director or designee may waive the required training and experience requirements.)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems.
Knowledge of the structure and content of English, grammar, spelling.
Proficiency in Outlook, Excel, Word.
Effective communication with others.
Ability to respond patiently in general public interactions.
Ability to maintain confidentiality concerning sensitive information.
