Personal Care Assistant
We are looking for a dedicated Personal Care Assistant to support students in academic and behavioral tasks as directed by the teacher or case manager. The role involves assisting with the implementation of instructional activities across various developmental areas including cognitive, motor, self-help, and social-emotional skills. You will provide personal care support such as feeding, toileting, hygiene, and positioning for students with physical or developmental disabilities. Additionally, you will monitor and manage student behavior in alignment with established behavior intervention plans and collaborate with teachers, specialists, and support staff to ensure student success in inclusive and specialized settings.
Responsibilities also include preparing students for participation in general education classrooms when appropriate, maintaining accurate records of student progress and behavior as directed, supporting students in using orthopedic or assistive equipment and ensuring safe mobility and positioning, attending required training sessions and in-services related to medical procedures, instructional strategies, and behavior support, promoting positive peer interactions, and assisting students in developing social skills. Other related duties as assigned to support student learning and well-being will also be part of the role.
Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, prior experience working with children with special needs preferred. Certifications and clearances must be current within specified timeframes including PA Child Abuse Clearance, PA Criminal Background Check, FBI Fingerprint Clearance, TB Test, Arrest/Conviction Report and Certification Form, and Mandated Reporter Training Certificate. Basic understanding of First Aid and CPR procedures, familiarity with record-keeping practices, and proficiency in English grammar, spelling, and communication are also required.
