Volunteer Grant Writer – Community Pantry Location: Brooklyn & Bohemia line office Commitment: Part-time / Flexible hours Reports to: Executive Director / Fundraising Coordinator About Us LIFT is a community-driven organization dedicated to fighting food insecurity by providing nutritious groceries and essential items to individuals and families in need. Through the power of volunteers, partnerships, and local support, we work to ensure that no one in our community goes hungry. We are seeking a Volunteer Grant Writer to help us secure funding that sustains and expands our programs. Your work will directly support our ability to serve more families and strengthen our community. Role Overview As a Volunteer Grant Writer, you will research grant opportunities, craft persuasive proposals, and help manage the grant submission process. This role is perfect for someone who wants to use their writing and research skills to make a tangible difference in the fight against hunger. Key Responsibilities Research and identify grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government agencies. Write clear, compelling, and mission-driven grant proposals and letters of inquiry. Collaborate with pantry leadership to gather data, success stories, and budget details for proposals. Track application deadlines, submissions, and reporting requirements. Assist in preparing progress reports and thank-you letters for funders. Qualifications Strong writing, editing, and research skills. Organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated. Experience in grant writing, fundraising, or nonprofit work (preferred but not required). Passionate about addressing hunger and supporting the community. Comfortable working independently and communicating remotely.
