As an Analyst for Webster Bank’s Sponsor and Specialty Finance team, you will conduct financial and business due diligence on sponsor-backed healthcare service companies to determine the credit worthiness of prospective borrowers. A key part of the position will be managing the ongoing financial performance of a portfolio of healthcare accounts and conducting tend analysis. Potential candidates at this level are typically initiating and building the skills required to underwrite and manage leveraged loan transactions. You will be a meaningful contributor to Webster’s growing healthcare leveraged finance team and be provided increased responsibility based on ability and job performance.

Responsibilities Key responsibilities include company and industry research, financial modeling & analysis, and portfolio management support. Analysts help prepare internal credit memos and will be part of a team that presents the underwriting diligence and portfolio management results to an investment committee. There is opportunity for increased responsibility as the Analyst progresses from execution and portfolio support to eventually leading key elements of the transaction execution process.

Throughout the underwriting and portfolio management processes, the Analyst will interact with multiple stakeholders such as sponsor coverage teams, credit professionals, capital markets, private equity sponsors, company management, and investment bankers, as well as legal counsel, loan closers and operations personnel.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or equivalent work experience.

Superior written and verbal communication skills.

Strong analytical skills and proficiency with financial statements.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with little supervision.

Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Desired Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, business or related discipline. MBA considered a plus.

1-3 years’ experience in leveraged finance at a commercial or investment bank with strong commercial credit experience.

Experience underwriting leveraged loan transactions.

The estimated salary range for this position is $85,000 USD to $100,000 USD. Actual salary may vary up or down depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position is eligible for incentive compensation.
