Requisition No: 868016 Agency: Children and Families Working Title: SENIOR CHILD PROTECTIVE INVESTIGATOR - 60074003 This position is classified in all community, public health and social service specialist occupations not listed separately. Some positions in this occupation may be responsible for coordinating work and supervising employees. Senior Child Protective Investigator duties and responsibilities are as follows. Conduct investigations regarding allegations of abuse, neglect, abandonment, and special conditions for children. Work closely with law enforcement. Collect information through observation and interviews with children, parents, relatives, neighbors, and other parties associated with the case, and analyze criminal, past service history and other records. Engage families to understand family dynamics, challenges, and solutions; identify needs and determine the level of intervention needed to include voluntary services or court‑ordered dependency services. Assess danger threats, child vulnerabilities and caregiver protective capacities to determine whether a child is safe. Develop with family and other persons any required present and/or impending danger plans based on analysis of danger threats. Modify safety plans as needed during the course of the investigation. Arrange emergency placement for any child that cannot safely remain in the home. Notify state attorney, law enforcement, child protection team and other required individuals as appropriate. Provide written present and impending danger assessments. Complete risk assessment on families investigated and explain risk score to family. Conduct staffing for families with high and very high risk scores. Present safety plan and impending danger assessment at case management case transfer staffing and participate in discussion of recommended follow‑up actions. Provide families with services linkages to agency and community resources based on needs assessment and recommend development of case plan to Case Manager. Conduct initial and ongoing child present and impending danger assessments. Develop with the family a signed Present Danger Plan and a signed safety plan for any identified threats and interventions. Schedule and gather information for and participate in case staffings. Prepare appropriate reports/documentation in coordination with Children’s Legal Services and provide testimony in court. Maintain thorough documentation in client records and organized client files. Report indication of abuse, neglect and/or abandonment to the Florida Abuse Hotline. Establish and maintain cooperative and professional working relationships with organizations and agencies involved in child protective investigations.
