Fire Sprinkler Designer (Design-Led Project Lead)
Salary Range:
$60K–$95K (plus year-end bonus/profit sharing)
Topa Group is partnered with a well-established Fire Protection contractor in
Nashville . We are seeking a
Fire Sprinkler Designer
who brings a project management mindset to the drafting table. This is a
fully in-office
role designed for a designer who enjoys seeing their drawings through to completion by managing schedules, materials, and field coordination. You will work on a variety of
commercial projects
involving steel and CPVC (plastic) systems.
Key Responsibilities
System Layout: Utilize HydraCAD and Revit to design code-compliant fire sprinkler systems for commercial new construction and retrofits.
Design-Based Management: Oversee projects from the design phase through installation, acting as the primary point of contact for field crews and general contractors.
Technical Analysis: Perform hydraulic calculations and pipe sizing for both steel and plastic (CPVC) piping systems.
Site Surveys: Conduct on-site measurements and surveys to ensure designs align with existing field conditions.
Project Oversight: Manage project timelines, material procurement (listing), and submittal approvals with Nashville-area AHJs.
Coordination: Participate in BIM coordination meetings to resolve piping clashes with other MEP trades.
Qualifications & Experience
Software Skills: Proficiency in HydraCAD is required; experience with Revit is highly preferred.
Dual Skillset: Proven experience in fire sprinkler design with a strong background or interest in Project Management.
Material Knowledge: Experience designing with both steel and plastic/CPVC fire protection components.
Certification: NICET Level II or III in Water-Based Systems Layout is preferred but not required.
Market Experience: Familiarity with commercial construction standards in the Middle Tennessee region.
Project Scope: Diverse commercial portfolio ranging from retail and office to light industrial.
Compensation: Competitive base salary plus year‑end bonus and profit sharing.
