About The Role The Consumer Loan Officer is responsible for gathering, analyzing and interpreting supporting information for consumer loan applications. The position prepares consumer loans for Approval, Counteroffers, Denials, and ensures loans are compliant with loan policy and processes are followed according to procedures. This role supports and adheres to department lending policies and operational procedures consistent with overall company policies.

Pay range:

$20.68-31.01 per hour.

Duties and Responsibilities

Process all new applications in a timely manner, including ordering and reviewing flood insurance, title insurance, hazard insurance, and preparing application for document preparation.

Gather, analyze and interpret consumer loan applications and/or credit information for existing and prospective banking customers in order to process necessary file documentation.

Create monthly reports from automated consumer loan system and Excel.

Order and review flood certifications, title policies and appraisal requests.

Assist in the training of bank personnel on Consumer Lending related issues.

Prepare and track Adverse Action letters.

Review Adverse Action packages for quality control.

Prepare and track decisioned loan follow‑up letters.

Answer questions from branch personnel regarding all Consumer Loan products, features, benefits, rates, application status, appraisals, flood certifications and title policies.

Comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

Stay up to date on all governing Federal and State consumer regulations as they relate to Retail Lending.

Position Contact

Frequent contact with the Consumer Operations Manager to receive guidance and coordinate work assignments.

Frequent contact with customers and prospects.

Contacts involve varied or complex situations which require tact, judgment, and the ability to develop solutions to problems.

About You Qualifications

High school diploma and/or equivalent experience in consumer or residential lending.

2-4 years of previous lending experience.

2 years of experience in consumer lending focusing on policy and procedures recommended but not required.

Knowledge, Skill, Ability

Understanding of all Consumer Loan Products, including credit cards, and knowledge of regulations pertaining to interviewing an applicant and taking a credit application in person and/or over the telephone.

Self‑driven, ambitious, goal‑oriented with strong analytical, underwriting, customer service, and sales skills.

Strong leadership traits, work ethic, written and verbal communication, and time‑management skills.

Basic computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.

Accurate, punctual, dependable, and professional in appearance.

Ability to relate to others and impart knowledge and information in a clear, precise manner.

Good math and organizational skills to maintain complete, accurate loan documentation and follow‑up.

Excellent communication skills both verbal and written to manage a heavy volume of correspondence, personal contact, and telephone communication.

Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

Ability to multi‑task and handle complex tasks efficiently.

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Excellent customer service skills.

Work Environment Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in a climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.

What We Offer Compensation & Benefits Starting salary is dependent upon relevant experience and may vary by geographic location.
