Mechanical Engineer – Launch Systems Hardware

$45/hr on W2 (Base pay range: $42.00/hr – $45.00/hr)
Responsibilities
Design and develop mechanical components, mechanisms, and structural hardware for launch support systems.
Oversee and participate in testing, verification, and validation of mechanical assemblies.
Support planning, execution, and documentation of design modifications, design reviews, and engineering updates.
Utilize CREO and Model-Based Definition (DSR6) methodologies for high‑precision engineering design.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑quality engineering solutions on schedule.
Apply engineering best practices to ensure reliability, scalability, performance, and manufacturability.
Support occasional travel (less than 10%) based on program requirements.
Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and innovative work environment.
Required Skills / Education
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
Hands‑on experience with CREO for mechanical design.
Strong proficiency with DSR6 (Model‑Based Definition) tools and workflows.
Experience designing mechanisms and precision mechanical components.
Strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals, tolerances, and material properties.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
Preferred / Nice‑to‑Have Skills
Familiarity with tooling, MGSE (Mechanical Ground Support Equipment), and steel weldment design.
Knowledge of AWS D17.1, aerospace materials, and industry specifications.
Experience working in aerospace, launch systems, or high‑reliability mechanical environments.
Ability to support whiteboarding sessions, design reviews, and technical presentations.
