Job Summary
We are a busy tax preparation firm seeking a reliable and detail-oriented
Tax Preparer Assistant
to support our tax professionals during the upcoming tax season and potentially year-round. The ideal candidate will help with administrative tasks, data entry, client file organization, and basic bookkeeping to ensure smooth and accurate tax preparation for individuals and small businesses.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong organizational skills and an interest in taxes/accounting to gain hands‑on experience in a professional tax environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assist tax preparers with data entry of client financial information into tax software and spreadsheets
Organize and scan client documents, maintain accurate filing systems (digital and physical)
Perform basic bookkeeping tasks and reconciliations
Provide general administrative support
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent organizational and time‑management skills
Ability to maintain strict client confidentiality
Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
Fast and accurate typing skills
Preferred Skills & Experience
Basic knowledge of income tax preparation (1040s, schedules, etc.)
Experience with bookkeeping or accounting principles
Familiarity with QuickBooks (Desktop or Online)
Previous experience in a tax office, accounting firm, or administrative role is a plus
Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment during peak tax season (January–April)
