The Utah Office of Data Privacy is seeking an entry-level, full-time Communications Specialist to strengthen statewide awareness, stakeholder engagement, and event/media production in support of data privacy and records management coordination across Utah jurisdictions.

This role will lead the development and management of communications initiatives, including the statewide Privacy directory, newsletters, targeted emails, multimedia content, and events. The specialist will serve as the primary point of contact for outreach and awareness campaigns.

As the Communications Specialist you will be responsible for:

Building and maintaining a statewide directory for privacy and records management professionals.

Develop and distribute communications content, including newsletters and targeted email campaigns.

Produce short-form video and podcast content to support outreach and training efforts.

Plan and execute stakeholder engagement events, including an annual privacy conference and quarterly town halls.

Serve as a liaison to privacy and records management teams, as well as partner jurisdictions and external stakeholders.

Track and report on key performance metrics, including directory completeness, newsletter engagement, content production, and event attendance.

Provide basic design and branding support, and coordinate with vendors and contractors as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or a related field OR have 5+ years professional job related experience

Excellent writing and communication skills.

Experience with video production.

Knowledge of social outreach.

Project management and event coordination experience.

Employment contingent on passing a background check.

Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.

Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
