The Air Force Civilian Service is looking for a full‑time Defensive Cyberspace Operations Analyst, (GG‑2210‑12), at Joint Base San Antonio‑Lackland Air Force Base (AFB), in San Antonio, Texas. This is a developmental position with known promotion potential to the target position of an Defensive Cyberspace Operations Analyst, GG‑2210‑07‑12. The supervisor determines that the incumbent has successfully completed all required on‑the‑job and/or formal training, and the incumbent is performing all duties described in the target position description at the level of independence described for the position. Salary and Benefits

Base Pay Range: $81,090.00/yr – $159,344.00/yr. Salary determination will be based on experience. No telework or remote work. No special allowances or supplemental pay were noted in this posting. Direct pay is through Air Force Civilian Service. Primary Purpose / Responsibilities

To serve as a defensive cyberspace operations technical expert and Cyberspace Protection Team (CPT) Mission Element crew member supporting tasked Service, Combatant Command and National Agency partners. Assists mission partners to ensure mission assurance (MA) and Information Assurance (IA) of critical key cyber terrain and mission areas. As an operational team member, enables hardening of systems and networks against exploitation, detects unauthorized, malicious, or adversary activity, eliminates adversary presence, and assesses defensive capabilities by utilizing leading‑edge computer security technology, tactics, techniques, and procedures. Provides technical expertise in the performance of work requiring the application of cyber security principles, methods, and techniques. Applies cyber operations knowledge in the planning, research, design, development, test, evaluation, integration, modification, or exploitation of complex electronic and operational mission systems to support the organization’s mission objectives. An individual appointed under this position may be tasked/assigned to fill one of the following CPT crew positions: Network Analyst, Host Analyst (Unix), Host Analyst (Windows), or Cyber Threat Analyst. Qualifications / Requirements

U.S. Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) Security Clearance. Drug testing: designated as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short‑notice drug testing. Mission essential (ME) and mission critical function (MCF) position that must continue uninterrupted after an emergency. Emergency essential (EE) position that cannot be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization. Knowledge of IA and MA and threat hunting technologies and techniques, analysis of computer systems, operating systems, network communication protocols, computer and network architectures and virtual machine (VM) technology. Ability to analyze and correlate data to distinguish evidence of attacks or intrusions from normal activity. Knowledge of IA and MA technologies such as COMSEC, COMPUSEC, EMSEC, OPSEC, computer systems, digital communications systems, network protocols, computer architectures; and computer security penetration tools and techniques. Knowledge and skill in one or more of the following areas: (a) computer operating systems (Unix, Windows, etc.) enterprise services, file systems, security, configuration, and analysis; (b) network operations and security, including network data flows, protocols, PCAP, etc.; (c) computer programming and scripting; (d) malware identification and analysis; (e) system forensics. Skill in developing and evaluating new or modified work methods, processes, or information protection procedures; ability to develop and articulate technical direction and approaches to formulating interoperability, implementation, and contingency plans involving communications and connectivity between major command and control systems. Travel may be required to CONUS and OCONUS locations, including austere locations; frequent travel and/or long periods (many months) may be demanded. Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968: a qualifying domestic‑violence crime conviction disqualifies an individual from performing duties. Information Assurance Certification is a condition of employment. Progression through the developmental series to the target grade (GS‑12) requires obtaining the requisite IA certification.
