Job Description We are looking for a Producer to join our MSNBC Audio Unit. This role will work across multiple podcasts and projects. The producer’s primary role will be to support the unit with a combination of editorial roles (fact‑checking, cutting tape, and research) and some administrative tasks (such as booking studios and updating show websites). The producer will be a utility player, pivoting to tasks across the unit as needed. Sometimes they will work on specific series; other times they will serve as producing partners on shows that could use an extra hand. This person will know how to edit both audio and video. Edit depth, narrative storytelling, an interest in news and politics, and adherence to journalistic best practices are essential.

Responsibilities

Oversee MSNBC’s showcasts (i.e., TV shows repurposed as podcasts) by monitoring the showcast feeds, training linear peers on posting to Simplecast and Apple Connect, and providing support where needed

Post TV special coverage as audio‑only offerings

Maintain show websites and gather social media materials

Help with booking, research, and fact‑checking

Write draft scripts & prep for hosts

Locate, organize and edit file tape

Cut tape in Descript and Pro Tools

Take the lead on producing new shows; backfill on existing shows as needed

Build new feeds when needed

Work closely with manager and teammates to make sure everything is accomplished

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

Minimum 3 years of audio production experience, preferably in podcasting

Minimum 1 year of video editing experience for YouTube podcasting

Technical expertise in ProTools and Descript

Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects under deadline

Must be willing to work varied shifts as news changes

Salary range: $93,000 – $110,000.
