This individual will design, coordinate, and work directly with the design manager for fire sprinkler systems in single-family, multi-purpose podium, wrap-style, and large multi-family residential buildings. The designer will create finished representations for sprinkler systems using drawing and drafting skills and tools. The drawings will guide all other members of the construction chain, both on-site and in the office. Responsibilities also include initial project planning, scheduling, material stock listing, change analysis, and problem solving, with close coordination with project manager, superintendent, and sales representative throughout the project lifecycle.
Job Responsibilities
Review construction contract documents and coordinate with sub‑contractors and General Contractor/owner to gather required information for sprinkler system design.
Apply analytical thinking and problem solving to determine construction feasibility and system possibilities.
Create detailed drawings using AutoCAD and/or AutoSprink programs.
Produce material stock lists for all project components.
Perform hydraulic calculations.
Develop initial schedules for preliminary project work.
Maintain design historical records for future use.
Build positive and ongoing relationships with customers to ensure company meets expectations.
Coordinate with other office departments to ensure proper handover of job information.
Perform Project Manager functions as required.
Complete additional responsibilities as directed by supervisor or WSFP management personnel.
Job Qualifications
Applicable degree from a technical school or college.
NICET certification is a plus.
Proficiency with AutoCAD, AutoSprink, or other specialized fire sprinkler layout software.
Project management experience is a plus.
Proven ability to complete work timely and meet deadlines.
Three years' experience in multi-family residential design.
Detail-oriented with free-hand and mechanical lettering and drawing skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Willingness to coordinate and work well with others.
Willingness to pass a post-offer drug screen test, background and reference check.
This position has a salary range of $20-$35 per hour depending on experience.
