Job Description Position Purpose Safely transport hazardous and non-hazardous materials from customer sites to designated sites using appropriate equipment (van trailers, straight trucks, flatbeds, tankers, roll‑off frames, etc.) while ensuring packaging meets DOT specifications, inspecting manifests and shipping paperwork, and maintaining valid transportation permits and compliance with DOT, EPA, state, and local regulations.
Primary Duties / Responsibilities
Perform daily inspections of vehicle/trailer before driving.
Review shipment records, manifests, container labeling, vehicle placards, and loaded drum or tank integrity.
Ensure DOT documentation (load limits, driver logs, inspection records, permits, insurance, fuel trip reports, IFTA stickers, etc.) is current and valid.
Consult with customers on load conditions and paperwork inconsistencies.
Report moving violations or accidents to the supervisor.
Assist in loading/unloading materials using appropriate equipment.
Perform housekeeping duties as required.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Education / Experience / Background
High School diploma or GED.
Prior commercial driving experience.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Familiarity with DOT regulations for transportation of hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
Strong teamwork and customer‑service orientation.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Time‑management ability to organize multiple tasks.
Required Certification / Licenses / Training
Valid Class A CDL.
Hazardous material (H) endorsement.
40‑hour HAZWOPER training preferred.
