Job Summary

The Sr. E-Commerce Merchandiser is responsible for optimizing the online storefront and customer shopping journey to drive sales and engagement through effective management of product content, visuals, promotions, and data-driven insights across e-commerce sites and email channels. This role serves as a key bridge between merchandising, marketing, UX, and technology teams to create a compelling virtual store with seamless, customer‑focused journeys. Using performance data and trends, the Sr. E-Commerce Merchandiser strategically positions products, coordinates digital campaigns, and improves discoverability to make online shopping intuitive and profitable. This role leads day‑to‑day web merchandising operations while supervising and mentoring a team to ensure best‑in‑class e‑commerce execution.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop a deep understanding of the customer and merchandising strategies to create coordinated promotions and digital campaigns across the website and promotional emails

Plan and execute on‑site merchandising strategies across key digital touchpoints including the homepage, category pages, and product detail pages to maximize conversion, revenue, and average order value

Monitor and continually improve site search, navigation, filters, site taxonomy and AI‑driven recommendations

Collaborate with content and UX teams to develop best in class content and site experiences

Utilize analytics tools to understand customer behavior, sales trends, and website performance to create and implement actionable insights that drive improvements

Ensure website content is accurate, up to date, and aligned with brand standards

Partner with creative team to ensure consistent storytelling and brand alignment across digital channels

Support SEO best practices in product and category content

Conduct A/B testing and make data‑driven recommendations for site improvements

Identify and fix merchandising issues such as broken links, missing content, or incorrect pricing

Support the development and optimization of a strong online presence for the Sportsman’s Guide membership program through strategic site placement, content updates, and promotional visibility

Supervise, train, and mentor web merchandising staff

Assign priorities, review work, and ensure deadlines and quality standards are met

Establish e‑commerce merchandising best practices and workflows

Participate in hiring, onboarding, and performance evaluations

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

5+ years of e-commerce or web merchandising experience

1+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience

Must have a passion for and understanding of the wants and needs of customers in the fishing, camping, hunting, or shooting sports spaces.

Strong understanding of e-commerce platforms (e.g., Commerce Tools, Shopify, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Magento, or similar)

Proven ability to use web analytics tools (Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, or similar)

Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience managing large product catalogs

Knowledge of SEO and onsite search optimization

Experience with A/B testing and personalization tools (e.g., Adobe Target, Tealium)

Retail or DTC e-commerce background

Leadership and coaching

Strategic thinking with hands‑on execution
