Specialty Pharmaceutical Sales Representative – Eye Care (Ophthalmology/Optometry)
Riverside - Remote position
Position Summary The Specialty Pharmaceutical Sales Representative is responsible for driving demand and adoption of a branded eye care product within a defined territory. This role focuses on building trusted relationships with ophthalmologists, optometrists, and key eye care decision-makers through clinical selling, education, and strategic account management.
The ideal candidate is scientifically curious, highly accountable, and thrives in a specialty sales environment that requires both relationship depth and execution excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Achieve or exceed sales goals within an assigned eye care territory
Promote a specialty pharmaceutical product to ophthalmologists, optometrists, and key eye care staff
Deliver clear, compliant, and compelling product messaging supported by clinical data
Build strong relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), high-prescribing accounts, and emerging practices
Execute territory business plans aligned with brand strategy and regional goals
Identify market opportunities, account needs, and access dynamics
Manage account interactions using CRM tools and maintain accurate call activity and reporting
Coordinate with cross-functional partners (marketing, medical, access, reimbursement) as needed
Stay current on disease state knowledge, competitive landscape, and industry trends
Ensure full compliance with company policies, FDA regulations, and industry standards
Qualifications & Experience Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required (science or business preferred)
Prior specialty sales experience strongly preferred Demonstrated success achieving or exceeding sales targets
Experience calling on ophthalmologists and/or optometrists highly preferred
Strong clinical acumen and ability to discuss scientific data credibly
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within territory
Preferred Qualifications
Eye care, ophthalmology, or optometry experience
Launch experience or experience with differentiated/specialty products
Experience working with buy-and-bill, specialty pharmacy, or reimbursement dynamics
Consultative, relationship-driven selling approach
Strong presentation and communication skills
Strategic territory and account planning
High level of professionalism, integrity, and accountability
Ability to work independently in a field-based role
Comfort operating in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment
Compensation:
$110k-140k annual base
Monthly car allowance and mileage reimbursement
Performance based bonus paid out quarterly
