Position Summary The Materials Manager is responsible for optimizing supply to achieve customer satisfaction, sales and cost goals.
The role oversees all materials replenishment processes, production planning, warehouse operations (receiving, material handling and shipping), inventory policy and execution, and the S&OP process.
The Materials Manager works with sales, marketing, and business unit leadership to align supply chain strategy with business strategy and support differentiated customer expectations for lead time and service levels.
The Materials Manager also collaborates with broader operations and procurement teams to recommend supply‑chain design improvements that drive overall effectiveness and efficiency.
Scope/Supervision and Interaction Has no direct reports.
Accounts for all products produced at the Hollis, NH site, reporting to the Parker Precision Fluidics Division Supply Chain Leader.
Operates as part of the site leadership team with a strong indirect reporting relationship to the site leader.
Interacts frequently with marketing, sales, customer service, engineering, demand planning, operations, procurement, and suppliers.
Primary Responsibilities
Coach and develop team members to build overall team capability and ensure “ready now” successors for all positions.
Monitor demand signals to identify changes and assess their impact on materials replenishment strategies and production plans.
Lead critical steps of the S&OP process to drive alignment on the supply plan required to achieve the demand plan.
Drive the weekly Sales and Operations Execution (S&OE) process to monitor status against the agreed S&OP plan and make adjustments to production and materials plans as needed.
Ensure short‑term production schedules consider constraints and maintain processes to monitor schedule adherence.
Develop mid‑term production plans at product/cell level to identify potential capacity constraints and opportunities to level load.
Ensure materials replenishment processes (Consignment, VMI, Kanban, MRP) are properly defined and executed to guarantee materials availability.
Act as the first escalation point for supplier performance issues.
Ensure the effective and efficient operation of all warehouse processes to support internal and external customers.
Monitor customer on‑time delivery, inventory accuracy, and expedited freight performance; identify improvement actions and drive implementation.
Develop inventory policies that meet supply‑chain objectives and support business strategy.
Monitor inventory positions against policy to maintain optimal levels for customer service and freight goals; identify supply‑chain improvements.
Engage with the warehouse team to support ongoing identification and implementation of improvement ideas.
Ensure the integrity of all system planning parameters.
Support the resolution of import compliance issues.
Qualifications
BS in Science, Engineering, Supply Chain or Business discipline required; MBA preferred.
6+ years of related experience in a discrete manufacturing environment with at least 3 years of management experience.
General knowledge of ERP systems and overall proficiency with technology tools that enable planning and reporting; experience with Logility strongly preferred.
Strong analytical skills including mathematical/statistical abilities.
Ability to work within high‑performing teams in highly collaborative environments.
Demonstrated ability to accept new ideas, engage in creative, innovative and systemic thinking to develop unique, differentiated solutions to complex problems.
Ability to listen, influence others, manage change and effectively motivate through open communication.
Proficiency in process analysis and improvement.
Strong organizational skills and initiative to manage multiple priorities and drive to achieve results.
Experience with LEAN manufacturing and relevant concepts/methodologies.
Strong problem‑solving skills required with 6‑sigma certification preferred.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required, including proficiency in developing and utilizing pivot tables and macros.
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills for effective interface with all internal and external stakeholders.
