Position Summary The Recertification Specialist is responsible for managing and coordinating annual and interim recertifications for affordable housing communities, ensuring full compliance with HUD, LIHTC, and other applicable regulatory requirements. This role plays a critical part in maintaining program compliance, supporting site teams, and delivering exceptional service to residents.

Key Responsibilities

Complete annual and interim recertifications in compliance with HUD, LIHTC, and other affordable housing program requirements

Collect, review, and accurately verify resident income, assets, and household composition documentation

Prepare and submit recertification files within required timelines

Ensure data accuracy in property management software and compliance systems

Monitor recertification deadlines and follow up with residents and site teams as needed

Conduct file audits to identify and correct compliance discrepancies

Provide guidance and support to on-site teams regarding compliance standards and documentation

Maintain organized and audit-ready resident files at all times

Stay current on regulatory changes and participate in ongoing training

Qualifications

Previous experience in affordable housing recertification or compliance (HUD, LIHTC, Section 8, or similar programs)

Solid understanding of income calculation, asset verification, and eligibility requirements

Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills

Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Proficiency with property management and compliance software (e.g., Yardi, RealPage, OneSite, or similar systems)

Effective written and verbal communication skills

High school diploma or equivalent required
