Success Coach YD Broward – Success Coach, LEAP YMCA of South Florida – Fort Lauderdale, FL, United States.

As a Success Coach, your primary responsibility will be to engage, assess, and guide L.E.A.P. High Afterschool students (9th‑12th grades) through a smooth transition to high school, maintain relationships with families, schools, and community, support graduation plans, and develop a plan for post‑secondary success.

Essential Functions

Conduct a complete intake and registration of students within stipulated timelines.

Provide required support to help students transition to high school, utilize available resources and personnel, and ensure a successful high school experience and graduation.

Work with agencies and service providers to facilitate case coordination and information sharing.

Refer youth and their families to appropriate school and community agencies or counseling agencies for social and educational support.

Maintain case records and assist with appropriate documentation.

Assist with prevention/education curriculum development.

Coordinate, prepare, and maintain required charting to proactively address challenges in a timely and thorough manner.

Adhere to all confidentiality requirements.

Plan, initiate, and monitor innovative programs for youth and their families (e.g., financial literacy, study skills, time management).

Work with culturally diverse students, families, and staff.

Provide direct supervision to interns and volunteers as needed.

Adhere to Child Abuse & Neglect Reporting requirements and follow internal reporting procedures.

Ensure proper staff‑to‑child ratios are maintained and report discrepancies to the Site Supervisor or Program Manager.

Assist the Site Supervisor in any other appropriate ways as directed.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree from a four‑year college or university with a major in social work or a related field.

One to two years of experience working with adolescents in an educational, criminal justice, or human services setting.

Professional training in child abuse.

Knowledgeable about transitioning to high school, college entry requirements, and securing financial assistance.

Strong written reporting and business writing skills.

Effective public speaking skills before individuals, public groups, and employees of the organization.

Effective organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to develop and maintain open communication channels between home and school.

Knowledge of school/community relationships and community issues.

Strong organizational and interpersonal leadership skills.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word and Excel).

Ability to work with a wide variety of community groups, organizations, district staff, consultants, students, and parents.

Ability to utilize computer spreadsheets and input.

Certificates and Licenses It is the responsibility of the Success Coach to maintain all necessary certifications set forth by the State of Florida and the YMCA of South Florida.

Work Environment Work is performed in classroom and outdoor environments; the position requires the ability to lift children up to 50 lbs. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.

Physical Demands Requirements include good physical health, full range of motion, manual dexterity, eye/hand coordination, corrected vision, and hearing. Occasional work under stressful conditions or irregular hours may be required.

Background Screening As a condition of employment, you will be required to submit to and satisfactorily clear a thorough Level II fingerprinting background screening.
