Barrick Gold Corporation
Nevada Gold Mines is seeking a Permitting Specialist to lead major mining projects through the regulatory approval process to support Nevada Gold Mines’ strategic plans. Previous experience with environmental baseline studies, technical evaluations of project impacts, and environmental regulations and compliance will be key to ensuring candidates are successful. The successful candidate will work closely with other permitting professionals, project and mining teams, stakeholders, and regulators and will need a blend of technical, planning, and project management skills.

Responsibilities:
Provide a strong contribution to the safety culture and programs, encouraging and ensuring others do the same Provide advisement to ensure project impacts and mitigations match sustainability values Lead efforts to deliver authorizations and permits for major mining projects through NEPA and state and federal permitting Work closely with project and site teams and provide technical expertise on environmental standards and practices Engage with state agencies, federal agencies, and local governments through meetings, presentations, and written submittals and reports Coordinate baseline and technical studies and design permit applications to reflect mine and project plans Develop scopes of work and manage contractors and consultants Maintain project schedules, scopes, and budgets and implement project controls Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Natural Resources, Science, Engineering, Environmental Planning or related, five or more years of experience
required Experience in management of environmental programs including air quality, water quality, wildlife, geochemistry, hydrology, waste management, and cultural resources
required Understanding of environmental compliance on federal lands and private lands
required Experience in extractive industries or mining experience
required Proven technical expertise and understanding of environmental laws, policies, and objectives
required Ability to travel within the state of Nevada to support project needs
