Technical Trainer - Data Center Operations What this job involves:
As a Technical Trainer at JLL, you will develop and deliver comprehensive training programs for facility technicians and engineers working in data center environments. You’ll create specialized curricula covering critical systems including electrical, HVAC, UPS, controls, and safety procedures to ensure all team members maintain the highest level of technical competency. This role requires deep technical expertise across multiple disciplines and the ability to translate complex data center operations into effective learning experiences that support mission‑critical facility management.
Your day‑to‑day tasks will include:
Develop and deliver technical training programs covering electrical systems, HVAC equipment, UPS operations, and data center infrastructure
Create comprehensive training materials including presentations, hands‑on exercises, standard operating procedures, and assessment tools
Conduct new employee orientation programs and ongoing professional development sessions for facility technicians and engineers
Design and implement competency‑based training tracks for different skill levels and technical specializations
Coordinate with equipment manufacturers to provide specialized training on critical systems and new technology implementations
Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, skill demonstrations, and performance metrics tracking
Maintain training records, certifications, and compliance documentation for all facility personnel
Support incident response training including emergency procedures, safety protocols, and crisis management scenarios
Collaborate with operations management to identify skill gaps and develop targeted training solutions
Desired experience and technical skills: Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technology, or related technical field
Minimum 7 years of hands‑on experience in data center or mission‑critical facility operations
Strong knowledge of electrical systems, HVAC equipment, UPS systems, and building automation systems
Proven experience in training development, curriculum design, and adult learning principles
Excellent presentation and communication skills with ability to explain complex technical concepts
Experience with learning management systems (LMS) and training documentation software
Understanding of regulatory requirements, safety standards, and industry best practices
Ability to travel to multiple facility locations for training delivery
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple training programs simultaneously
Preferred:
Data center operations or critical facility management experience
Professional training certifications (CTT+, CPLP, or similar)
Experience with Uptime Institute standards and data center industry certifications
Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and electrical safety training (NFPA 70E)
Master’s degree in Engineering, Education, or related field
Industry certifications in electrical, HVAC, or controls systems
Experience with virtual reality (VR) or augmented reality (AR) training technologies
