General Summary:
Function as a cashier and/or stocker, acting in a lead capacity when the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager is absent. Assist in setting and maintaining plan‑ograms and programs, provide exemplary customer service, and perform other duties necessary to maximize profitability, customer satisfaction, and team performance.
Duties & Essential Job Functions:
Unload trucks per the store’s prescribed process.
Receive, open, and unpack cartons and totes following company work processes.
Stock merchandise, rotate items, face shelves, and build displays.
Restock returned and recovered merchandise.
Order zones and drop‑shipment categories per manager instructions.
Assist in plan‑ogram implementation and maintenance.
Help customers locate merchandise.
Bail cardboard, dispose of trash, dust, and mop floors, clean restrooms and stockroom.
Greet customers as they enter the store.
Maintain register countertops and bags with register plan‑ograms.
Operate cashier register and scanner to itemize purchases and bag merchandise.
Collect payment and make change.
Clean the front end and set up sidewalk displays.
Maintain a clean, organized store to facilitate a safe environment.
Provide superior customer service leadership.
Follow company policies in the Standard Operating Procedures manual, Employee Handbook, and other communications.
Open and/or close the store under Area Manager direction.
In the Absence of the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager:
Authorize and sign refunds and overrides; count register; make bank deposits.
Maintain cashier accountability, key control, and cash control procedures.
Monitor cash levels and pull drawers as directed.
Monitor cameras for unusual activity.
Supply cashiers with change when needed.
Complete required paperwork and documentation per guidelines.
Qualifications – Knowledge & Skills:
Perform mathematical calculations: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages.
Understand cash handling procedures, cashier accountability, and deposit control.
Operate IBM cash register functions.
Know cash, facility, and safety control policies.
Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Understand safety policies and practices.
Read and follow plan‑ograms and merchandise presentation guidance.
Work Experience & Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Six months of supervisory experience (or related experience/training) preferred.
