Wood is recruiting for a Construction Manager to join its projects business focusing on process & chemicals. This opportunity is On-site in Houston, TX.

The Role Wood is looking for a Construction Manager with extensive experience in managing complex construction projects ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The Construction Manager will represent Wood on site and be responsible for organizing, managing and administering all site activities in accordance with the company’s operating policies and principles and relevant legislation and Client requirements. The role requires extensive experience leading teams and collaborating with various stakeholders, with responsibility for management of installation, commissioning and completion activities.

Typical responsibilities

Responsible for construction and contractor related deliverables

Supervises all areas on small projects and / or a subset / discipline on larger projects

Responsible for management and execution of multiple field disciplines or a subset of assigned construction project(s) in accordance with the requirements of the contract between the company and the client, and in accordance with the company’s operating policies and principles.

Responsible for execution of the work in accordance with the quality standards and requirements specified for the project.

Manages and controls project cost and schedule of assigned disciplines / subset of on site construction.

Management of installation, commissioning and completion activities of materials and equipment.

Coordinates field personnel work schedules to maximize utilization and ensure work is delivered on schedule

Ability to monitor work progress and report against the plan.

Ensure safety, quality and environmental responsibilities and accountabilities have been defined and communicated to workers engaged within their area(s) of control

Ensure all workers within their area(s) of control receive appropriate training to perform their work in a safe, legal and competent manner including any Health and Safety and site-specific inductions

Initiate safety, quality and environmental processes within their area(s) of control, including toolbox meetings, inspections, and the identification, assessment and control of risks in accordance with Wood and client requirements

Manages and controls project cost and schedule of assigned discipline / subset of on site construction. Utilize Commercial processes to capture variations effectively

Coordinate supply and delivery of equipment, subcontractors, consumables, accommodation and other project-specific requirements, in accordance with client/contract document specifications and in accordance with Wood Policies & Procedures

Understand and manage the industrial relations environment impacting the site and report any issues as required

Works with engineering in the design phases to influence the design for optimum constructability.

Provides the interface and maintains effective relationships with other contributors to the project.

Manage relationships with external suppliers and sub-contractors and resolves cost, schedule and quality issues

May act as company representative and play a role in contract negotiations
