This Position reports to:
Service Sales Manager
Your Role And Responsibilities ABB empowers smarter business operations by connecting equipment, software, and services to protect, control, and optimize assets within electrical infrastructures. Across multiple energy‑intensive industries, the business provides customers with end‑to‑end product and service solutions that help ensure the reliability and protection of their electrical infrastructure.
A Technical Inside Sales Specialist plays a fundamental role in achieving our ambitious revenue growth objectives. You must be comfortable multitasking and interacting directly with ABB customers. You will build relationships internally with the Operations Teams, Commercial Proposal Managers, Sales Managers and Administrators, and also rely on and work with Channel Partners and Manufacturers’ Representatives. You should be comfortable being the key point of contact for many customers with immediate urgent needs. A certain level of technical knowledge of electrical products and services will be expected. An ability to learn processes quickly and think creatively will be necessary to add value to customers. This position operates in a dynamic environment where it is imperative to be able to organize, prioritize, and have confidence to respond.
Exhibit a positive, friendly, and helpful attitude with customers and be sensitive to their needs.
Assist outside sales personnel with quotation, order processing/management, customer interactions and internal communication with ABB factories and Aftermarket among others.
Source new sales opportunities through inbound lead follow‑up and outbound cold calls and emails. Field website‑generated service requests.
Route qualified opportunities to the appropriate sales managers for further development and closure.
Work in concert with the Sales Directors to strengthen relationships with ABB partner organizations (IBC, Critical Power, Utility, etc.).
Support closing orders and achieve quarterly quotas.
Generate standard and configured to order proposals. Work with factory teams to secure material pricing as necessary.
Establish and maintain customer relationships. Learn and evaluate customer operations to aid in identifying customer objectives, requirements, and preferences.
Process product & service quotations and drive continuous follow‑up throughout the completion of the customer's purchasing cycle.
Gather and report to management information regarding the company, competitors, pricing, products, and current and future market trends as well as assist management and vendors in planning, tracking, and implementing sales strategies and developing new markets.
Assist front‑end sales team in new customer setup and existing customer account changes.
Process orders once received and ensure proper handoff to operations.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree, or a High School Diploma / GED and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
Experience in proposal or quote development, sales support, or order administration strongly preferred.
General knowledge of power transmission & distribution products/systems preferred.
Previous experience with business‑to‑business customer support preferred.
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or other technical discipline preferred.
