Job Title Clean Room Manager

Location Kennesaw, Georgia

Employment Regular, Full‑Time

Job Summary Leads the strategic development and operational launch of the university’s cleanroom facility. Responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive operating procedures, safety protocols, and compliance standards aligned with institutional and regulatory requirements. Serves as a central point of coordination for interdisciplinary research, vendor partnerships, and long‑term facility sustainability, setting the standard for cleanroom operations on campus.

Responsibilities

Leads the setup and commissioning of the cleanroom, including infrastructure planning, equipment installation, and procedural development

Develops and enforces cleanroom safety protocols, contamination control procedures, and regulatory compliance standards

Oversees scheduling and access management to ensure equitable and efficient use of the facility

Provides strategic leadership and technical guidance to faculty, staff, and students using the cleanroom

Serves as the primary liaison with Environmental Health and Safety and other regulatory bodies

Manages vendor relationships for equipment servicing, calibration, and maintenance

Maintains accurate documentation of cleanroom usage, safety audits, and operational metrics

Monitors inventory and coordinates procurement of supplies and consumables

Generates performance reports and usage analytics to inform decision‑making and resource allocation

Supports complex research projects requiring customized cleanroom solutions

Remains on‑call for emergency response and critical system failures

Coordinates infrastructure changes involving utilities (e.g., power, water) related to cleanroom operations

Required Qualifications

Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field from an accredited institution of higher education

Experience: Five (5) years of experience managing Clean Room operations, laboratory environments, or similar facilities

Preferred Qualifications

Certification in lab safety (Certified Chemical Hygiene Officer, Associate Safety Professional, or equivalent)

Certification in Facilities Management (CFM) or related credentials

Certification in Lab Management from an accredited organization (ASTM, ALMA, or equivalent)

Familiarity with local building codes, OSHA regulations, and safety protocols

Advanced degree in a related field

Experience with budgeting and financial management

Expertise in cleanroom standards

Salary Midpoint: $96,000. Offers are based on relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one–time meeting assigned deadlines

Familiarity with Clean Room equipment and protocols, and current safety and regulatory requirements

Experience coordinating with external vendors for maintenance and service requirements

Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem‑solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management, and presentation skills

Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite

Strong attention to detail and follow‑up skills

Strong customer service skills and phone and e‑mail etiquette
