The Specimen Processing Specialist will be responsible for performing clinical specimen accessioning, sample sorting, data entry, and specimen handling in a fast‑paced, high‑throughput environment located onsite in New York, NY.
Job Responsibilities
Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing
Communicate effectively with client office staff
Research, troubleshoot, and resolve customer and specimen problems
Meet department activity and production goals
Data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner
Accurately identify and label specimens
Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities
Scrub requisitions to ensure samples are prepared and missing items are updated
Perform spinning/freezing/splitting and other special services as needed based on client requests
Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent
1 year of relevant experience (lab/accessioning, production, manufacturing, or warehouse environment)
Previous medical or patient‑facing healthcare experience is a plus
Comfortable handling biological specimens
Ability to accurately identify specimens
Experience working in a team environment
Strong data entry and organizational skills
High level of attention to detail
Proficient in MS Office
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
Ability to pass a standardized color‑blindness test
Pay Range $17.75 – $20.00 per hour
Plus 2nd shift differential.
Work Schedule Monday – Friday 6:00 pm – 3:30 am, rotating Saturdays.
