About the Role
We are looking for a Product Manager to join the Rider Pricing team. This team is responsible for designing and improving the algorithms that determine rider fares using real‑time information about the route, product, and supply conditions. Our work is one of the largest contributors to top‑line impact, has high visibility across the company, and requires rapid execution and iteration.
As a highly technical PM, you will work closely with engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to build and refine pricing and matching models that drive efficiency, fairness, and profitability. You should be passionate about marketplace dynamics, algorithmic decision‑making, and contextualizing price / value signals for riders.
What the Candidate Will Do
- Define and execute product roadmap and strategy, focusing on demand and cost modeling.
- Collaborate with machine learning engineers, platform engineers, data scientists, finance, and operations to identify opportunities, prioritize initiatives, and deliver pricing outcomes.
- Stay on top of industry trends and emerging best practices in machine learning, modeling, and AI to ensure Uber continues to lead in innovation.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of Product Management experience in a very data‑driven and algorithm‑heavy environment.
- Must have a very strong technical background - this role will be actively involved in creating and implementing pricing models and optimizing algorithms.
- Proven ability to collaborate closely with engineering teams, lead technical direction, and communicate a broader vision effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to align technical investments with high‑impact use cases and broader business objectives.
- Experience crafting an ML‑first vision, identifying machine learning needs across multiple products, and proposing solutions that serve long‑term user and business needs.
- Extensive experience in data analysis and experimentation, with the ability to craft and execute multivariate tests to inform product direction.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Computer Science, Statistics, or other quantitative fields is a bonus.
For San Francisco, CA‑based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$190,000 per year - USD$211,000 per year. For Sunnyvale, CA‑based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$190,000 per year - USD$211,000 per year. For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
