Policy Advisor - Energy Policy & Legislation
Location: Washington, D.C.
A prominent bipartisan public policy team is seeking a Policy Advisor with 5+ years of experience in energy policy and federal legislative processes . This is an exciting opportunity for a mid-career professional to play a central role in shaping energy policy outcomes for sophisticated corporate and institutional clients.
What You'll Do
As a Policy Advisor, you'll support clients on issues ranging from energy transition and infrastructure to climate policy, utilities regulation, and advanced energy technology. You'll:
* Track and analyze legislation, regulations, and appropriations related to U.S. energy policy * Develop and implement advocacy strategies to influence Congressional and executive branch decision-making * Draft client communications, policy briefs, and strategic plans * Prepare clients for meetings with key policymakers and federal agencies * Collaborate with attorneys and policy professionals to address the legal and regulatory dimensions of energy strategy
What We're Looking For
* 5+ years of experience working in energy policy , legislation, or federal affairs * Capitol Hill experience strongly preferred , particularly with committees of jurisdiction (e.g., House/Senate Energy Committees, Appropriations, etc.) * Experience at an executive branch agency (e.g., DOE, FERC, EPA) is also highly valued and may substitute for Hill work * Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (JD, MPP, or similar) preferred * Excellent writing, research, and verbal communication skills * Team-oriented, client-focused, and eager to work on impactful public policy matters
