Daytime Shifts Daytime shifts (specific schedules to be discussed).
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Provide prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service, exhibiting caring, concern, and patience in all interactions and treating customers as the most important people.
Smile and greet customers in a friendly manner throughout the store.
Learn customers’ names and address them by name whenever possible.
Assist customers with: escorting them to products, securing items out of reach, loading or unloading heavy items, and any other tasks that improve the shopping experience.
Answer telephone calls promptly, provide friendly assistance, and take product orders.
Take customer orders at the bakery counter.
Work as a team with co‑workers to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
Check orders daily, set up a timeline and production schedule.
Decorate bakery items in a timely manner.
Stay current on new designs and trends.
Meet department standards.
Check cake orders for details (size, deco pack, icing needs, dates) daily and indicate supply needs.
Order supplies for the decorating area and verify orders.
Deliver product and set up wedding cakes on site (outside the store).
Communicate with bakery manager regarding displays, weekly ads, and special needs daily.
Check product dates, pull cases for work, and form lists for items to fill or replace.
Develop bakery orders for bakers daily (orders cakes, sizes, etc.).
Track daily retail production and identify tasks to be completed with co‑workers.
Act as a lead worker with part‑time or other employees, instructing and reviewing work.
Participate in employee cross‑training.
Use proper sanitation procedures and maintain a clean and neat work area.
Adhere to company policies and store guidelines.
Report to work on time and when scheduled.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities
Wrap all product as necessary.
Assist in other areas of the store as needed.
Perform other job‑related duties and special projects as required.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics
Problem‑solving ability for practical problems with limited standardization.
Basic arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
Administrative skills: filing, posting, mailing materials, copying data, interviewing for basic information, and providing direction to others.
Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent and up to six months of similar or related work experience.
Physical Requirements
Exert up to 100 pounds (shared lifting) occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly.
Vision requirements: near 20 inches and far 20 feet without correction, color vision, depth perception, and field of vision.
Perform lifting, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and repetitive motions.
Working Conditions Store environment with significant pressure to meet deadlines. Exposure to flour dust, noise, cleaning chemicals/solvents, residual fumes, and temperature extremes.
Equipment Used Standard bakery tools: mixers, ovens, turntables, tips, bas, airbrush phone, copy cake machine, intercom system.
Contact Daily contact with the general public for taking orders; weekly contact with suppliers/vendors.
