Job type: full‑time, 40 hrs/week. Shift may be one of three 8‑hour shifts. Mechanical shops operate 24 hours/day, 7 days/week.

Key Responsibilities
Testing, inspecting, and repairing electrical components of locomotive systems and shop machinery.
Maintaining and repairing locomotive alternators, generators, motors, AC/DC power control systems, electrical cabinets, lighting, batteries, and wiring.
Inspecting, adjusting, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical components of shop equipment (drop tables, welding, mechanical and electromagnetic equipment) and performing preventative maintenance.
Working in a safety‑sensitive environment with diverse and extreme weather conditions, uneven surfaces, loud noises, fumes, and heavy/moving machinery.
Safety is a core value. Employees must adhere to safety rules, policies, and federal/state regulations. PPE may be required, and employees must respond to safety concerns and emergencies.
Relocation assistance is not available. Journeyman probation: 60 days; Apprentice probation: 120 days.

Basic Qualifications
Can work in the US without BNSF assistance with employment authorization (e.g., H‑1B, STEM OPT/CPT, TN).
At least 18 years of age.
Can report for duty at the location.
Can work safely in the conditions described.
Can work the designated shift/hours.
English language skills.
Can lift and carry up to 50 lbs without assistance.
Can visually distinguish colors.
Can discriminate between verbal and non‑verbal signals.
Can use hand tools.
Can climb ladders and access equipment.
Can bend, walk, stand, sit and work at heights, including on top of a locomotive.
Preferred Qualifications
4 years of practical electrical work experience.
Union Membership required with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Union dues per agreement.
