The Produce Clerk is a vital role responsible for maintaining the freshness, quality, and visual appeal of our produce department. This position requires a dedicated individual with a strong work ethic, a passion for fresh produce, and exceptional customer service skills. The Produce Clerk is expected to ensure the department is well‑stocked, clean, and organized, providing a positive shopping experience for all customers.
Responsibilities
Receive, inspect, and unload produce deliveries, ensuring quality and freshness.
Stock and rotate produce, adhering to FIFO (First In, First Out) principles.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, practicing food safety and sanitation standards.
Provide excellent customer service, greeting customers and assisting with their selections.
Merchandise produce displays to maximize sales and visual appeal.
Monitor inventory levels and report low stock to the department manager.
Handle produce with care, minimizing waste and spoilage.
Assist with the preparation of pre‑cut and packaged produce items.
Demonstrate positivity and effective communication with team members and customers.
Minimum Qualifications
Working knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Strong customer service skills.
Detail‑oriented with a focus on cleanliness.
Effective communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a retail produce environment.
Familiarity with produce varieties and seasonality.
Experience with merchandising techniques.
